Grumpy Gills....

Olivia has been in a funky mood today. She went to bed at 7pm last night and did not wake up until 8:15am, which for two year olds is nearly unheard of. I should have known then that something was up. So by 11am she was an absolute mess of tears, whining, and only eating the hot dogs out of her lunch. I knew it was naptime, which I really did not expect to come until at least 1pm, when she laid on the floor while I was online in the office. So I laid her down for a nap expecting some sort of fight about naptime. She slept for two hours! She woke up in a better mood than when she went down so i figured it would be a better afternoon. Wow, was I wrong... I realized by 3pm that she wasn't feeling well, what a bad mommy I am, there is a reason they do not remember these years. I thought I was only one with a stomach bug, but apparently not. The whole family officially has it, even though mine has been going on since Monday. I just thought I was the only one who picked it up with being prego and all. Hopefully we will all feel better sooner than later, although I am secretly hoping that my hsuband has it for 5 days like I have had to suffer with :)

Mommy survival mode

I went into survival mode this morning...mainly because I have an open house tonight and tomorrow. I started cleaning room by room. I despise selling our house and really wish someone would just buy the stupid thing. I am cleaning constantly, although this week I decided not to clean (as much), and I feel like the house isn't really "lived in". It looks to perfect. It needs to have some toothbrushes on the counter, some toys strewn about, and maybe some unmade beds. Instead it looks immaculate. So room by room I went along clean and scrubbing every corner of our house in hopes that someone will come in this weekend and buy it.

Olivia does not normally watch a lot of TV, probably an hour or two a day. This morning, however, she watched two looooong movies while I cleaned. I will probably pay for this later as she is already not interested in napping. She needs to get that energy out so that when naptime comes around she is completely exhausted and sleeps for two plus hours. I will definitely be taking her outside this afternoon for a long period of time to get out the pent up energy.

Snow Day.

Georgia actually got snow! It was pretty crazy...although they do not freak out about the snow like North Carolinians do. (not sure if I spelled that right) We got about five to six inches and it looked oh so pretty. I think it only looked pretty because I knew it would be melted by the next day :) So I took chronological photos of our day...

Learning about happiness...

This year has already been a learning lesson for me. Last year was a bit of a roller coast to say the least. I have already realized the things I am learning this year and it is only February! I am learning to be happy where I am in life, with what God has given me, and what he has planned for me.

I had quite a few new years resolutions this year and will meet many of them within the next few months. It is funny how my new years resolutions are turning into a chance to learn something about life. I thought it was important to reflect on this....

So update on Olivia's sleeping situation...she slept through the night last night!!! Very excited when I woke up this morning and realized I hadn't woken up in the middle of the night to put her back to bed. It was really nice to get a full nights sleep, especially since I was not feeling very good yesterday.

Morning sunshine...

Well Olivia felt that she did not need much sleep last night. I have had a really tough time over the past few months of getting her to sleep through the night. I am not sure why she thinks that two or three or even four am is a good time to wake up. This is not a normal wake up groggy and go back to sleep...she is WIDE awake.

So last night after battling bedtime for a few hours, she finally fell asleep at 11pm. Then she woke up at 5:36 to be exact and then for the last time at 7:00. So by about 9:30 am she was a whining, crying, tantrum throwing, miserable two year old. I put her down for a nap at 10:00 and battled for 25-30 minutes and finally won! She is now sleeping peacefully and I hope it stays this way for at least two hours.

I have to get her on a schedule of sleep means sleep and do not get out of that bed. I am not really sure if this is a realistic schedule for a two year old, but I will try. Especially since we have another baby coming and mommy needs all of the sleep she can get before two hour wake ups begin. Here is to hoping...

Boys will be boys....Ranger Demonstration

Baby its cold outside

Busy, busy, busy

I realized how long it has been since I have written or even for that matter posted any pictures. We have been quite the busy family over the past two months! Let us begin with the move that will be taking place in a month or two. Joe received orders to Fort Bragg, North Carolina...yay! We had to finish up every project in progress or planned on the house in a matter of weeks. We finally finished all of the projects and listed the house for sale. We have had quite a bit of interest in the house and hope to get an offer sometime this week.

I just finished up THREE classes in a short time of only eight weeks, something I never want to do again. This term I chose to only take two classes, much more managable! I felt as if I barely had time to spend with Olivia and with being newly pregnant I felt exhausted almost all of the time. So in between classes, hourly care for Olivia, projects on the house, and the holidays coming to a close it has been the fastest two months I have had in a while.

I am very happy that February is here and all of the new adventures that await our family. This year will be a very special yet difficult year for our family. We will be welcoming another baby girl into our beautiful family. Her name will be Meghan Riley Kress and she will be arriving in August. Even before our newest arrival comes, we will be moving across the states to settle in North Carolina for, what we hope, will be a very long time. Soon after Meghan arrives Joe will be deploying with his new unit. This will be very difficult for me since we have not had a deployment since 2006. I think it will be even harder for Joe knowing that he will not be able to watch Meghan take her first steps, first laugh, or even her first smile when she recognizes you... Olivia will miss her Daddy more than she ever has before and will most likely ask about him every day that he is gone. With that being said, this year will hold many surprises many of which we will not expect and some that we already know about.

I will post many pictures of the past two months and try to keep this blog more updated for our family and friends to enjoy!
