Children's Museum

Atlanta Children's Museum

This past weekend we took Olivia to the Atlanta Children's Museum. She had a blast and was exhausted after playing for such a long time. I was really impressed with all of the activities they had. Moon sand, fake fishing with a pond, huge building blocks, dress up, a tree maze, a grocery area with mini shopping carts, and so much more! It was alot of fun to see her run around and just be a kid. Although it was tough for mommmy...I realized while I was watching her play that she is coming into an age that requires less and less from mommy. She does not need me all of the time and she needs to do it by herself. She is becoming really independent...sniffle...I know that she still needs me to kiss her boo boo and hold her hand when we are going into a new place. It is just a new stage that I never really expected....

Olivia's Version of Naptime...

Olivia has been having a tough time going down for her afternoon nap....she takes a 45 minute morning nap, because she wakes up at 6:00am. So by 9am she is worn out...then around 1:30 or 2pm I put her down for another nap. I have, in the past, not put her down for the afternoon nap and it is a really rough evening. She basically is inconsolable and does not even want to eat dinner. So this is how it has been going with her afternoon nap...as you can see it is messy :)

So Busy...

Olivia has been really busy lately...or just full of energy. She is just going, going, going all day long. It is really difficult to even get her to take a nap. I love spending time with her and is pretty sure she loves it to. We got her hearing test done that the doctor had ordered and she can hear very well! I am very excited about these results...the audiologist said that Olivia has great hearing and has no doubt that her hearing is above average. This is really great news for us and knowing that your child is okay and totally normal could not have felt any better :) At least we have the ability to put her in daycare or preschool and not have to worry about any additional help she will need....

Turbo Charged....

Olivia loves to run...all over the house and outside. I am guessing she gets this love for running from her Mother as I believe running is true meditation. She runs circles around the house. She runs from the living room to the dining room to the kitchen and back again. I love when she gets going because the dogs do too. She's quite the little manipulator...she will get a little snack, like a french fry or cookie, and tease the dogs with it. So she will give them a sniff and maybe even a nibble. Then she takes off running with the cookie in hand! The dogs chase after her and she thinks this is so much fun. As they run around the house, sometimes for a half an hour. I'm not complaining, she kills two birds with one stone; drains herself of energy and drains the dogs of energy too! The best part about her running is that when she wants to get going even faster she will tuck her arms close to her sides and pick up speed. It is like she presses a turbo button and off she goes! It looks a little bit like Freddie the Flinstone :)

Busy Little Bee

After getting out of the tub she ran outside into the cold, wet, and rainy weather...crazy...

Take Two Please....

I began watching my girlfriends 3 month old today. I spent the evening, last night, dragging the baby stuff out of the attic and putting together a diaper bag for two! I was ready to go...but it never turns out that way. I set my alarm for 5:45 the next morning. I woke up to my phone ringing at 6:39 with my friend letting me know she was here. I scrambled to put the dogs into the bedroom so that they would not bombard her upon entry. Right before I opened the door I remembered the alarm was set, so I ran to disable the alarm, then ran back to the door. Jacob went to sleep soon after she left. Olivia got breakfast, I got half of a cup of coffee, a bowl of cereal, and finished packing the diaper bag. Jacob woke up and was immediately hungry. We scrambled into the car and headed out to Speech Therapy. After leaving Speech Therapy I put Jacob down for another nap, he is apparently famous for 1 hour naps, I am not :) So Olivia went down for her one hour nap, she has obviously picked up on this habit. Jacob played and ate. I decided to give him more than four ounces, since he barely lasted for 3 hours. He has been asleep for 2 hours and 40 minutes so far. Olivia decided that she did not need another nap and is currently eating the chips I tried to eat during my 1 hour of peace. I believe my life is currently like the book 5 Minutes Peace....
